"Our vision is so limited we can hardly imagine a love that does not show itself in protection from suffering.... The love of God did not protect His own Son.... He will not necessarily protect us - not from anything it takes to make us like His Son. A lot of hammering and chiseling and purifying by fire will have to go into the process."
Reflect, today, upon your own trials in life....

We Should Not Fear Death
There’s an old expression: “Everyone wants to go to Heaven, but no one wants to go tomorrow.” This silly quip tells us a lot about ourselves. First, it tells us that each of us knows deep down that we are going to die someday....

We are always on the anvil; by trials God is shaping us for higher things.
Reflect, today, upon these words of Jesus. Know that He was not only speaking them to His Apostles, but also to you....

Slowed Down
Life as we know it has changed since this COVID-19 pandemic outbreak. The norm that we were used to, that fast-paced, hectic, high adrenaline, and jam-packed life where we wake up to days filled with endless moments of rushing from point A to point B, has taken a break....

Unlocked and Waiting
A few months ago due to massive health emergency brought about by this global pandemic, which all of us were caught off guard, ill-prepared and dumbfounded because of its magnitude, our Church authorities and leaders responded quickly to the precautionary measures imposed by the government and civil...

Saint Bernardine of Siena
Our love story with St. Bernardine or San Bernardino, as we have known and loved him, began a long time ago - about the time we got to know St. Catherine of Siena and the Miracle of the Eucharist of Siena. For, you see, right adjacent to the Basilica of St. Francis is the Oratory of St. Bernardine....

Call it what you want: relativism, constructivism, deconstruction, postmodernism, critique. The idea is the same: Truth is not found, but made, and making truth means exercising power.
Reflect, today, upon the Truth as it resides in the mind of the Father in Heaven....

What the Church needs to-day is not new organizations or more and novel methods, but men whom the Holy Ghost can use, men of prayer, men mighty in prayer. The Holy Ghost does not flow through methods, but through men. He does not come on machinery, but on men. He does not anoint plans, but men, men of prayer.
Reflect, today, and over the next couple of weeks about the Holy Spirit....

This is so difficult for us to accept in our world of man-pleasing, "I'm OK, you're OK" Christianity. No one wants to be disliked, hated or misunderstood—especially by family, friends and loved ones.
Reflect, today, upon any way that you experience persecution in your life....

Pregnant Mom during the pandemic - what's a Catholic Mom to do?
I keep hearing stories in the news of moms not being able to give birth with their spouse present or a doula. If the hospital allows a mom to give birth with a spouse there – they have all kinds of protocols – may have to wear a mask, gloves, gown or whatever. Even stories of baby being taken away f...

Victories of the Rosary
“All we can do now, is pray!” When all else fails, when there is nothing left to do, we pray. A last ditch effort; we’ve tried everything else; it’s out of our control; now all that is left is to pray. Instead, we should begin by praying, recognizing that the most powerful tool we have is Prayer....
